UTG M5 A4/A5 CQB Airsoft Spring Gun

$49.99

5 out of 5- UTG MP5, April 18, 2009
Reviewer: MarctheShark777 from Park Ridge, IL

This is my first review of an airsoft gun, so don't be a hater.

I recently ordered a UTG spring MP5 A4/A5 off shortyusa.com, and I was excited to see how it would perform compared to my Echo 1 MP5 RIS Master Series.

When the UPS guy dropped it off I was eager to see my new gun. I got some scissors and opened up the packaging. It came in a nice tan/brown box, and was well packaged, like UTG guns always are.

First Impressions: I open up the box to see the MP5, two clamp magazines, a short one and a long one, a law mount, a UTG three point sling, and an extra full stock. Those alone are worth around $60 alone, so the gun was basically free. When I took the gun out of the styrofoam it felt plasticy, but solid none the less. it had two settings on the selector switch, as opposed to the common three. The gun overall feels smaller than my Echo 1, but that just might be me.

Further Inspection: As I looked at the gun a little closer I felt some things:
1. The lower receiver and foregrip were painted with a grainy matte paint. It's nice to the touch.
2. The upper receiver is a smooth plastic, and the rotary back sight is terrible in comparison to my Echo 1.
3. The collapsible stock is a little loose.
4. The collapsible stock bars are metal, along with the cocking bolt, most of the gearbox (I think...), selector switch, claws of the magazines, and some screws.

Performance/Testing: The first thing I noticed, even before doing a chrono and accuracy test was that when you cock the bolt there is a metal clink at the end, which is a good sign. When I chronoed I got 272 with .2 gram bbs, which is better than expected, shorty did a good job of averaging. When I did
accuracy tests for 25 feet, 50 feet, and 75 feet I got surprising results. The 25 feet , on a 1' x 1' square, with a slight wind, I hit 9 out of 10, and I'm a decent shot. At 50' I hit 8 out of 10, better than I thought, and at 75' I got 7 out of 10, but this is when the lowest set hop-up was starting to kick in.

TM compatibility: This gun seems to be TM compatible, in most terms, but the magazines are a little iffy. My Echo 1 magazines don't work at all, or very little, but my generic metal mags work perfectly. Weird.

Overall I think this gun is great for springer wars, but compared to my Echo 1 it is nothing. Don't go out in an event and start using this, you won't get 3 shots off against an AEG.

UTG MK23 Navy SEAL Airsoft Spring Pistol

$24.99

5 out of 5- UTG MK23 , May 25, 2009
Reviewer: MarctheShark777 from Park Ridge, IL

Okay... I bought this gun about 2 months ago, and now I want to give a report.

Unboxing: The gun was packaged well in a green UTG box, not uncommon of them to make good boxing. I found the box with 2 magazines, a mock suppressor, the gun. and some bbs.

First Impressions: When I first held the gun it felt plasticy compared to my KWC Colt National Match, and also much lighter. It is large compared to a 1911, but comfortable. The magazines also feel nice, and the suppressor is full metal.

Further Inspection: After holding it for a while I found that there were more metal parts than I thought, like the trigger and safety. I also found that the internals are ABS (plastic) after disassembling it (very easy to do.)

Performance: I first did a chrono test, and got about 260 FPS with .2s, which was higher than I expected. Next I did an accuracy test from 75-80 feet, (I'm a good shot) and hit 8 out of 10.

After Action Report: I had a pistol war with my friends, and this was a little worse than my $60 KWC 1911, but you would expect that. The 4 magazines I have for it worked well.

PROS:

High cap magazines
Quality Construction
Metal Suppressor
Great Performance

CONS:
Plastic
Does not out perform Marui spring MK23
Big
Light

ECHO 1 STAG ARMS MOD4 TC AEG Airsoft Rifle

$159.99

5 out of 5- Echo 1 M16 Tc, May 27, 2009
Reviewer: MarctheShark777 from Park Ridge, IL

Another review by me, and this time it is about the Echo1 M16 TC.

Unboxing: I first unboxed it, the package coming with the G&G bbs I bought. When I first saw it the most evident thing was the fact that it was plastic. Being used to the Echo1 Master Series M5, it felt light in my hands. I also noticed the big Stag Arms logo on the lower receiver, which is a plus.

Further Inspection: Once I felt it and charged the battery, I immediately saw that it was all metal, minus the receiver, foregrip and stock. I also noticed that getting the battery in was a PAIN. The dust cover holder also fell off, so now it won't close, no biggie.

Performance: This is where the rifle really shines! I was testing it for speed, and accuracy, and got some surprising results. After putting a magazine through the gun and lubing it, I got a 386 FPS with .2s, a field-ready speed. The accuracy was amazing. From 50 and 75 feet I got a 19/20, and at 100 I got a 16/20. I would guess that this thing is accurate out to 175 feet, maybe hitting 10/20 there.

PROS

Trademarks
Accuracy
Power
Lots of Metal
Performance compared to a CA

CONS

Plastic receiver and foregrip
Battery a pain to get in
dust cover holder broke

P.S. I forgot to mention that it is very easy to put on an Echo1 M4 RIS, just pull back the delta ring, take off the foregrip and put on the RIS.

I recently bought two of these mags, and I love them. They have a grainy finish which I like and can hold 130 bbs. I have never had a misfeed, but there is one problem. The last 3 or 4 don't feed, which isn't a big deal.

PROS
130 rounds
Midcap (No rattling)
Grainy finish
No misfeeds
No jams
Cheap

Cons
Last 3 don't feed
Plastic (Not a big deal for the price.)

KWC Colt National Match 1911 Ultra Grade Spring Softair Pistol Silver

$59.99

Reviewer: MarctheShark777 from Park Ridge, IL

This gun is just wow. I can't describe it any other way. It is a lot of metal (not full metal) and is a heavyweight and powerful springer. I am really sad I lost it, because I loved this gun even more than my Echo 1 Vector Arms MP5 that broke. (Not saying this is better than that gun). It is expensive but I think I am going to buy this for a second time I love it so much.

ECHO 1 Vector Arms VP5-A4 RIS AEG Airsoft Gun Metal

$199.99

5 out of 5- Echo 1 Vector Arms MP5, August 09, 2009
Reviewer: MarctheShark777 from Park Ridge, IL

I am just going to start with my war story first.

We were playing a 3 vs. 3 tactical game. My team had my MP5, a UTG M324 (also a great gun) and a Super 9. They had a M324, a CA M4, and a DE M83 (LPEG). We were in about a foot of snow, and it was about -5 outside. So we started to fight, we were playing a standard MilSim Marines vs. Terrorists, and they were hiding somewhere. We started to run to the area we believed they were, and the guy with the CA took out the Super Nine and we were against the odds. I started to run towards their base (a Dump) with my gun. I started to shoot short bursts, and I saw them run like pansies to the forest (where we entered). We were behind a bunker, and they were behind trees. Mr. M324 started to line up his shots, and we were under heavy fire. I was firing single shots, hitting the exact area I was shooting at. My Sniper hit the other sniper, so it was a 2 on 1. He briefly put out his hand while reloading, and I shot it, first shot. We won the war, and I won the pride of my gun. Now I use it in my formal field games when I can carry another primary (Echo 1 ATS shotgun or KJW M700, depending on the weather). It is a great gun that is maneuverable in any conditions (cold, snow) and reliable ( I got a lot of snow on my gun in that game.)

6 MONTHS LATER

I have had this gun for 6 months and I encountered a problem. My gun won't fire. I decided not to repair it or get it repaired, so I bought a 1 year old one from my friend for cheaper than a repair. It works perfectly. I think it might have been when my brother dropped it down the stairs...

PROS
Reliability
Size
Power
Accuracy
Adjustable Hop-Up
30mm scope mount (I use iron sights, on all my guns except my sniper.)
Full stock to hold large battery.

CONS
Full Stock (Some people want a more compact MP5)
