Almost identical to the AEG, the spring UTG AK-47 is by far the best looking and functioning spring AK on the planet. Its performance surpasses all competing models in its class to include the revered A-15.

  • Construction: With the exception of a few extra screws on the receiver, slightly different stock design and an external hop up adjustment lever, the Spring Warhawk is practically the same in appearance to the AEG Warhawk. Boasting a high metal content the Spring WarHawk weighs in just over 5 pounds when fully loaded. Metal parts include: muzzle/front sight, barrel, mock cleaning rod, front sling mount, click adjustable rear sight, bolt, upper receiver cover, trigger guard, trigger, selector switch, rear sling mount and butt plate.

Cocking the spring is accomplished by pulling back on the full metal bolt just like a real AK. The cocking bolt has a relatively short travel and slides smoothly so you can really crank out some firepower if the situation calls for it.

The upper receiver cover has a plastic tri rail mount attached to it for mounting a red dot sight or scope. However, this can be removed for a more traditional AK look by removing three screws although it does leave three holes in the cover.

Not many spring rifles can brag that their stocks are more detailed than that of a $300 AEG. The imitation wood finish on the Warhawks stock is far more realistic than a Tokyo Marui AK. The UTG has a less reflective, more wood-like appearance than the Marui.

  • Performance: This rifle would best be described as a sniper killer due to the fact that it can effectively hit a torso sized target from 200 feet away. No, we haven’t been sniffing green gas. We measured it. Its hop-up system is very aggressive so .2g BBs tend to climb like a homesick angel however with heavy weight .25g or .28g BB this rifle will outrange most AEGs.

  • Goodies: Included with the WarHawk are two 340 round high capacity magazines, UTG 3 point tactical sling, tri rail weaver mount and a UTG speed loader. The speed loader is not needed to load the included high capacity magazines but is a nice feature in case you order some standard magazines with the gun. The WarkHawk is compatible with AEG magazines such as Marui, Classic Army and others. For those of you that want more realism we found that the 30 round capacity STAR magazines work very well with this rifle.

    5 out of 5- Awesome springer, August 21, 2006

This gun kicks the crud out of my Super 9. Range is just as good as the UTG sniper. Plus it just looks so cool. This gun is great if you play with all springers LPEGs. It can even hold it's own against AEGs. I've seen guys with springers go up against AEGs and win. It doesn't matter how good the guy's gun is, it's all about tactics. Anyway the range is as good as a stock AEG and is just as hefty as the AEG Warhawk. UTG was very generous with the metal content on this gun. For $60 this is definitely worth it.

To Commander_Night: No this is not a dumb idea. Some people either can't afford the AEG Warhawk and other people play with just spring guns. For those kind of people this is a very good idea.

    5 out of 5- UTG AK-47 Springer, August 26, 2006

If you are looking for the perfect high-grade springer to compliment your arsenal, then look no further. This gun will meet and exceed your expectations in every category. And for $20 cheaper than the A-15 Evolution, you can't go wrong. This gun is nearly perfect in every way.

    [Quick Story]
I bought this gun from Shorty's store two days ago. I took it home and tried it out, and to my dismay, It wouldnt fire. The gun wouldn't shoot unless I cocked it upside down. And even then, it would only fire about once every three times. There were also about 4 bbs stuck inside the gun. I took the gun back to Shorty's today, and they exchanged it with a brand new one for free. The technician took apart the old one and found that the internals of the gun were malfunctioning. He even gave me a full clip (340) of bbs for free.

    [Overview]
When I first shouldered the gun at Shorty's, the first thing I noticed was how heavy it was. I was also surprised at how sturdy it felt. Shorty's IS NOT kidding when they say the gun weighs about 7 pounds. This is without question the most solid feeling gun I've ever held. The second thing I noticed was the placement of the iron sights. They are both just underneath of the guns rail mounts, so even with a scope or other accessories attached, you can still use the iron sights if the situation calls for it. This gun is VERY high quality.

    [Looks and feel]
This gun is the most detailed and realistic looking springer that I've ever seen, as well as the most realistic feeling. As I've already said, the gun definately feels heavy enough to be 7 pounds. It is also very, very sturdy and there are no noticable flexes or creaks in the body of the gun. I'm confident that this gun could take any amount of abuse you throw at it, although it's awesome looks will make you want to take care of it. Ok, enough of this. Onto the test results.

    [Performance]
So I brought home the new gun today, attached my UTG 4x32 scope and took it to the back yard. I set up a (once)sticky target about 60 feet away and took my position. I pulled back on the full-metal cocking bolt, and found that it was surprisingly difficult. After about 10-15 times of cocking the gun, it became gradually easier to cock each time. As another reviewer pointed out, the cocking bolt is on the right side of the gun. I wasn't sure if I was going to like this, but after a few shots, I realized that by using your right(trigger) hand to cock the gun, you keep it steadier and more on target than you would using the hand you steady the gun with. With my 4x32 scope attached, this gun shoots so fast that I can barely see the bb leaving the barrell.

    [Accuracy]
I used KSC .2 Perfect BBs when testing this gun, and I found that they curve up A LOT. Even with the hop-up off, the bbs still curve up after about 50 feet or so. It's enough to make you miss your target. I would go for heavier bbs, .23 or .25, even .28 would work well with this gun's easily adjustable hop-up. Or if you don't want to spend the money, just aim at your targets feet, and you'll hit their chest depending on the range. This gun can hit accurately from about 130 feet with .2s and the hop-up off.

    [Magazine/clip]
I absolutely love this guns magazine. It holds an insane 340 bbs, enough that you'll never have to reload in a springer battle. And incase you do (you must be playing for 3 hours or so] UTG has included an additional 340 round magazine. The magazine is standard high-cap, pour in and wind. For the last few shots, you have to cock the gun upside down, but this is to be expected. The magazine fits perfectly into the gun, thanks to a unique locking system and good design by UTG.

    [Goodies/Accessories]
As Shorty's states, the gun comes with two 340 round magazines, a quick loader (invaluable tool if you have an M87 shotgun) and a UTG Tactical 3-Point Sling. Personally, I don't like the sling, but that might just be because I can't get it on the gun properly. This gun comes with the full package. Best of all, you won't have to spend money on extra clips (unless your insane). I have the normal UTG 4x32 scope rather than the mini one that Shorty's reccomends with this gun, but it still fits perfectly. I also use this scope on my SOS M87 shotgun, and it works fine on that gun too.

I would reccomend this to anyone who already has a few guns, and is looking for a high-quality primary weapon. This gun will not let you down, in any way, unless you get a defective one, in which case Shorty's will replace it for free, as long as you didn't do anything stupid (use .12 bbs or throw it). All of the goodies that are included with this gun only add to the value. Give it a shot, and you'll be happy you did.

    5 out of 5- Very Nice, April 17, 2007

The AK Series is always a must have. If you have NEVER tried out an AK47, I highly suggest trying this puppy out and see for yourself. Great gun, great speed and distance, and not that expensive. Buy spare mag though, always buy a spare mag with any new gun you buy.

    Thank you for reading.

    5 out of 5- The WarHawk, August 24, 2006

This is the exact same as the WarHawk. The internals are the same but now it doesn't use batteries! This is a great gun if you want a realistic cocking action for your gun. I also find it great for games that you just play with your friends, especially if they only have spring guns. It is still easy to achieve a high Rate Of Fire with it when you have a little practice. And for you people that say this is different than other guns because the bolt is on the right side and is for 'left handed people' you are mistaken. Almost all real rifles have the bolt on the right side, this is so you can hold up the gun with your hand that you steady the gun with instead of the hand that pulls the trigger. The High capacity magazines are great on this spring gun because you don't have to wind it all of the time because it only shoots semi-automatic, 340 rounds is good enough for a spring gun so don't worry about buying a bigger clip. I would recommend using KSC .2g bb's for the best performance but since its spring it CAN use cheaper bb's but I don't recommend it. If you have the extra cash, you should buy the Golden Image Mini 4X32 Mil-Dot Airsoft Scope and the Compact Scope Mount. And of course lube, you still need to lube your gun even if it is a spring to achieve maximum performance. And you will have the ultimate Cheap spring rifle. Overall 5 out of 5

    5 out of 5- cool gun, August 16, 2006

I cant give any advice on the reliability on this gun besides thats a UTG, and all UTG guns are awesome. The performance is mind blowing. The 280 fps power is astonishing, especially for the price. The range is even better, 150 effective range is INSANE. Some snipers, like the super 9 v2, dont even have a max range close to that, left alone an effective range. Highly recommend it also because of the high cap. mags. UTG makes great guns and this one certainly shows their quality.

p.s. - if other versions come out of this gun, like the aeg version, then it will truly be one of the best spring gun lines avaible.

4 out of 5- Drum Role Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, August 24, 2006

I had a few extra bucks and said,"Why not!" I can't tell you how happy I am with my purchase. It has great performance for a springer! And it comes with TWO 340 high-cap mags! With 680 shots you could sit and shoot all day! With my experience the mags have never misfed doubles or blanks! The hop-up system is really nice too. My only dissapointment is that it's kind of hard to keep it trained on a target for a few minutes waiting for a clear shot. (I tried it out and it worked great as a smiper in a game! But if your looking for a real sniper keep looking!) But other than that this is a great springer! Depending on what your looking for. If it's a awesome performing springer that looks great than BUY!!!!!!!!!BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!

    5 out of 5- Great springer!, August 15, 2006

This is a phenomonal spring airsoft rifle. It is built just like the AEG. It feels very solid and well put together. It shoots nicely and the bolt is smooth. You can keep a considerable rate of fire with this, especially with two high caps. Its kinda expensive for a springer, but it is a great gun.
