- Dont be fooled!, February 20, 2007
This is the UTG MK96! My goodness this gun is a monster. This is truley a sniper, amazing FPS and longer barrel than the M324. When buying consider these things:
PROS
This is a UTG gun not the one of the dozens of other guns that only look like this
Real like weight
Amazing FPS
Sturdy and well built
Good Acuraccy
Comes with neccsary Bi-pod
Easy ajustable hop-up
CONS
No iron sights
Does not come with scope
Please Remember that other websites are selling similiar models of this gun that are cheaper but they are not UTG. Also many of those websites dont have the extra mag and bi-pod so Shortys is still the best deal.
For the customer, buy this plus:
1X bag of KSC .25g bbs
1X bag of KSC .3g bbs
Scope (doesnt need to be super fancy)
Side arm (If you dont have one)
Use one mag for .25 bbs and the other mag for .3 bbs. Coordinate the bb weight with the hop-up system to perfect each shot
For Shortys, please try to:
Lower the price of the UTG M324 if possible
Bring back the ghillie suit
Sell extra mags if they come out

- this to all of you who says utg isnt good, February 23, 2007
kinda long but true and pretty helpful with real facts. i actually have this rifle and also an aps 2, first of all this gun stock is shooting just as fast, but futher and more accurate with phx .28s than what my maruzen type 96 is with a laylax 150 spring. so just because it is cheap by no means means that isnt isnt good oh and sniperm, 450-480 fps, i chronoed it at an average of 475 fps out of a whole clip with .2g bbs, and 418 fps with .28g bbs and also, if your using hi prescision bbs with consistent weight, and its a spring, it cant put out more than all of a sudden less velocity, physics, it will always push out its maximum force with out being checked, the velocity CANT change that much, and no, the higher the velocity the round or lighter even at slow velocity is more effected by wind than a heavier round, so a heavy round at slow velocities is much more accurate than the same round or lighter weight at higher velocities perfect example is m 16, or 5.56mm, is more susceptible to wind than the larger slower 7.62mm or ak 47 round. plus mine never curved like that or had to take a second shot at a human target from 180 feet. so maybe its just your rifle if you have one, and not basing it off what you heard.

- It's UTG, February 21, 2007
I will start with the Price. With 165 dollars, you could buy a high end sniper rifle (TM for example...) that will last 1000000X longer. But wait!!! "T3H UTG SHOOTS 450-480 FPS" So it must be better!!! Wrong. There is a saying among many veteran players thats states "FPS does not make the gun". And it's 100% correct.
According to Shorty, it shoots from "450-480" FPS. Thats a 30 fps difference on average. Thats a difference a spring upgrade would have! In case you don't understand what I'm getting at, that means this gun is pretty inaccurate. Let me explain:
Lets say you are being sniper. And you have targets at 190-210 feet (as Shorty says). You fire off one shot. It is about 477 fps. So you will get good distance and if lucky a hit. Next target. You shoot. It drops to 449. Suddenly range drops drastically and is more affected by wind. So you shoot again, and aim higher to compensate for the lower range, but suddenly is boots to 483! So it goes right over your target because of the variety in Fps. And then when these targets you couldn't hit start closing in on you, have fun trying to evade them with an 8.5 POUND SNIPER RIFLE.
In addition you must also take into consideration this. This is a powerful gun. And from what I have read from many reviews on this site, many are not responsible enough for this power. In addition, anyone who buys this is obviously not a hardcore/serious airsofter who goes to national events, but rather someone who plays with others in backyards or (hopefully) safe and secluded areas (such as me). This FPS is not very necessary for these situations. But I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the use of heavier bb's AND SETTING A MINIMUM ENGAGEMENT RANGE OF 100 Feet. If you cannot do that, you're not a good marksman/sniper.
Enjoy what ever you choose.

- Great Overall Rifle , February 23, 2007
I got this gun today from shorty and right out of the package i was very impressed. the gun seems very solid.. my only concern is the bipod attachment shifts side to side when moving, its nothing to troublesome tho.
Next we come to the actual shooting of the gun. with the hop up on its max setting this gun shoots very wild with .20s. i would reccomend some heavier BBs for this gun to get the maximum distance without losing accuracy. after that i proceeded to make adjustments to the hop up with the included allen wrench and got the gun shooting fairly accurate with .20s. with the correct weight bbs this gun is a monster. get your self a scope and some scope mounts and you should be all set.
UTG has thrown in a rifle sling, a speed loader, an extra magazine, and the allen wrenches needed to assemble the gun. the included tools are also used to add spacers to the stock of the gun, or raise and lower the cheek rest.
I myself am not a hardcore airsofter. i enjoy the casual game and some target practice. this gun will definitley appeal to collectors looking to save some cash.
this gun would also appeal to shooters who arent sure how to internally modify or upgrade there guns. if your looking for a high FPS sniper rifle with out upgrading anything. this gun is for you
Right out of the box this is a great weapon... its just not perfect..
4 out of 5 stars..

- Good stationary sniper, February 23, 2007
This gun is awesome. I got it and it rules. I can hit a millk jug easily from around 200 feet with .3 ammo and there is a LOT of metal. The reason why my title says stationary is that you wont be moving around with this. You will be in one place due to the 10 pounds when fully loaded. 10 pounds is not heavy, but you WILL get tired after a while. The mk96 is a long range sniper, the super nine is a close range shooter, and m324 is a medium shooting tactical rifle in my opinion. Awesome long range gun, get the following:
5th gen scope
Another bi-pod
.30 gram sniper ammo
Get this gun if you stay in one spot under cover when sniping in a game.

- Wow!, February 20, 2007
This is incredible! Definitely a sniper rifle for a pro airsoft player. At 480 fps with .2 the mk96 boasts almost as much power as the Dragunov SVD, but is way more affordable. Over half the gun is metal, and that means durability. Utg's guns just keep getting better and better! Personally, I think the black version is a lot cooler looking than the green one. Anyway, if you are looking for a next-level sniper rifle, but don't want to break the bank, this is definitely a gun for you.
There simply isn't a gun this cheap that packs this much power.
The only problem with it is that none of your friends will play with you after you shoot them! Also, you will have to purchase a high-quality scope for it.

- No need to buy other sniper rifles, February 21, 2007
This is all you need. It comes with a lot of goodies. Paul denton, metal does not mean durability. treade, why would you complain that it doesn't come with a scope? No gun does here except in package deals. I would use either .23g or .25g BB's. Also get a 5th gen 3-9X50 scope.

- best sniper, February 21, 2007
this is the best sniper for the price out there.you're getting a really nice looking gun with great fps and accuracy for a incredable price.for a nice sniper you could get the dragunov and go bankrupt or you could get this for a fraction of the price.i use this as my primary sniper because of the price it was at and its accuracy and range.i got the black one(i regret not getting the olive drab one because we play mostly in a forest)and it looks like a gun from the future.cocking the bolt back is pretty smooth to.this is the best sniper for the price you can get.buy this gun.
speed out.....
