- I told ya, June 09, 2007
I recently suggested that shorty's gets the UTG M14 in black. Hey, look what's new on the site! New from UTG, the M14 is the most accurate MPEG on the planet. Designed to make the shooter the marksman, the UTG M14 is a great gun for people on a low budget. Being priced at only $170 this is a great deal. Providing great accuracy, the M14 also backs it up with great strength, range, and rate of fire. Even the metal high capacity magazines are good and they are UTG! I will break it up into sections.
CONSTRUCTION
Being made out of metal and ABS plastic this gun has a sturdy feel. I used to own a UTG M14 in the wood color. I sold it and I now own the Classic Army M14 match (long barrel like this) with a spare real wood stock, olive drab stock, and it came with a black stock. Hopefully shorty's gets CA M14's too. Now back to this gun. This gun is all metal everywhere except the stock. This is one great constructed gun. It looks terrific, but there are no trademarks. Still, 5 out of 5 construction.
PERFORMANCE
The UTG M14 is not only one of the best construced MPEG's, it also has the best performance for long range shooting out of any MPEG. I was shooting soup cans at 150 feet but it wasn't piercing them of course. This gun has an underrated rate of fire. People say 800 RPM is not good but it is better than a real Colt M16 A2. Also the real M14 was only semi auto so be glad this has full auto. 800 RPM is great. When I had this I used an 8.4v 4200mah Ni-MH large type battery but it doesn't matter because the MAH DOES NOT INCREASE RATE OF FIRE YOU DUMBASS PEOPLE WHO SAY THAT! The range is the stated 150 feet which is better than the $290 G&G UMG. So, seeing that this is a MPEG, 5 out of 5 performance.
OVERALL
If you want an M14 and do not have $250 to spend on one buy the UTG M14. This is way better than the AGM M14. This gun is Marui compatible for magazines and internals, but it isn't compatible with the Classic Army M14 or the G&G M14. This is a great weapon for the price.
PROS
Low cost
Lots of metal
Durable
Looks good
Heavy
Good power
Good accuracy
Good ROF
Good range
Full metal version 7 gearbox (second best, version 8 is the best now)
Steel gears
Okay internals
Good mag cap
Mags are suprisingly good
Comes with two hi cap mags, sling, battery, and a charger
CONS
Too heavy for some people (although not a con for me)
Okay internals (I want metal bushings please)
Hope this helped.

- Time to clear things up, June 11, 2007
This is the best MPEG for long range shooting. Let me clear things up now.
... said the stock and foregrip are plastic. The stock is the part that is now black and is wood on the other version and olive drab on the other version. It is ABS plastic on this, the AGM, and the TM version. On my new CA M14 Match it is fiberglass but I got a real wood stock for it. ... you basically say "ehhh go for t3h UTG AK-74 it has better power and looks 1337". Wow. Yes, the UTG AK-74 shoots 20 FPS more I used to own it as well but it is less accurate.
... this weapon was used in Vietnam, the Golf War, and in Somalia (as seen in Black Hawk Down - they were short on M40A1's). It was invented just before vietnam, and was not in World War II. Saving Private Ryan is my favourite movie, they had M1 Garands not M14's. So do not go posting things about real guns if you do not know about them. That goes to everyone. ... I used to own this gun. I was able to shoot a torso sized target at 150 feet 9/10 times. Stop lying you do not have this gun and if you do, you are a terrible shot. Sniper rifles go AT LEAST 150 feet with great accuracy.
mcavey said on full auto you can pull the trigger for 20 seconds. Ever heard of a wind up high capacity magazine? Well, this comes with two of them. Wind up mags must be rewinded every 40 shots about. Also just because it is an AEG does not mean it is good. ...
mkaliner1 ... Unlike previous UTG high capacity magazines, these are reliable and they do feed on full auto. It is compatible with the TM M14 and AGM M14 only. The G&G M14 and CA M14 can only use the included mags you dumb lying twat.
SYmpathy, it is "cute" how you try to copy my review (I am unknown airsoft but I need to discuss my newer AEG's). You say it has bad internals b/c I said it? It has a version 7 metal gearbox and metal gears which is all you can expect in a MPEG, however ECHO 1 just topped UTG and every other MPEG maker. That is not bad at all. Nothing is bad about it I was just asking for more but I wasn't asking for too much. ...
Ira Hayes says the size effects accuracy. ... The barrel length and internal barrel diameter effect accuracy, not the size. For instance, the Steyr AUG A1 is 31.69999999 (so on) inches, and the airsoft high end and mid grade AUG's are 31.75 inches. You see, that is smaller than an M4, but it has a much greater accuracy seeing that the barrel is as long as an M16.
So, I hope this clears up some things. If you want a low cost M14, buy this one, since it is much better than the AGM M14. If you have more money, get the Classic Army M14 since it is the best.

- actuallly a 4.5, June 10, 2007
This is one great gun. It looks a lot more tactical then the Olive Drab one and the mock wood one because it is black. This weapon shoots very well but, the mechanism that connects the trigger to the motor (or something like that) broke because it is plastic. I had to get it fixed at the local shop (fifty dollars later). Here are some pros and cons.
Pros
- Very, very long range (about 175 feet and its still accurate at that range)
- Looks very tactical
- Very good sights
- Relatively cheap
- Sturdy, besides the trigger connector
- Not too heavy
- The best hop up of all the UTG guns, yes its better than the M324
- Uses a large type battery
- Rubbery feeling (gives you a great grip).
- Can take one of those working silencers
Cons
- Flimsy trigger connector
- Comes with the worst magazines I have ever seen (they don't even feed on full auto).
- Not compatible with Marui, G&G, ect. magazines
- Not for CQB (Its very long)
- I'm pretty sure thats it...

- This is Awesome!, June 10, 2007
My brother actually owns this rifle, which he got from some place else, but I use it way more than he does, and it ROCKS! The black coating reduces sun glare or any kind of light glare and gives it a camouflaged look for night time wars. With an illuminated 4x32mm scope, this is a perfect night time sniper. The grouping is so close that I am able to hit a torso sized target within a 140-160' radius on full auto. This would also be a good gun for a spotter to have on them for a sniper, but the only thing better than this is the UTG MK96 or a Dragonuv. But now the statistics:
Pros:
FPS, good for an electric sniper
Accuracy, Very Very good
Weight, almost weighs as much as the real one (about 2 lbs too light)
Battery Life, long enough
Magazine Capacity, even though snipers don't need 300 rd mags, it's good for close
engagements
Cons:
Not a lot, but it's pretty long, but that can be a pro, because it improves accuracy, but not the best weapon for running from bunker to bunker
All in all, it can cost $40 more and I'd still get it. It's a lot better than more expesive guns I've shot, so it is a very good gun.

- Fixing People's Mistakes, June 14, 2007
This Rifle is Great and all, but that's not the reason why I'm writing this review. I wrote this to fix people's mistakes to not give other people false impressions.
#1, Unknown Airsoft, you state that you are glad that this gun as fully automatic unlike the real one which was only semi-automatic. Boy could you be more wrong. Pretty much the whole reason why the M14 was invented in the first place was to replace the M1 Garand with a hard hitting, automatic version of it. It WAS fully automatic, but had the capibility to go Semi-auto. My Uncle was in the Army when they issued the M14, and he said that it was best rifle he ever shot, and he owns about 20 guns. All in all, the real M14 is fully automatic.
#2. Brightest, you say that this gun makes you feel like you are running around in World War II when you play. Well this gun wasn't issued until 1957, in time for the Vietnam War, and World War II ended in 1945. If you had a BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) though, like in Saving Private Ryan, then you should feel like you were ruuning around in World War II, but not with an M14. You also say that it makes you feel like a Marine guard of the Tomb of the Unknowns. Guards for the Tomb of the Unknowns aren't Marines, but sintinels. The gun they guard the Tomb with is an M1 Garand with bayonet afixed, not an M14. So technically this M14 shouldn't make you feel like any of the things that it makes you feel. Sorry.
Well that's all the mistakes I see so far, but this was done to not give people the wrong impression.

- Perfect in every aspect!, June 10, 2007
First of all, I must congratulate UTG on making this weapon finally available!
I have had over the years this weapon in olive drab, and now finally a completely black version!
Here are some FAQ from people who have asked before about my Olive drab version:
Q: Does it work well as a sniper?
A: Yes it does! For up to 100-130 feet you can hit man sized targets!
(150' about 4/10 times) Plus to add to the excitement you can rapid fire. Making your target a dead man, and with little ease!
Q: It is very loud?
A: No, not VERY loud. Compare it to someone throwing a good sized rock into a pond. Perhaps quieter than what some people expect.
Q: Will you have mercy on me?
A: Perhaps if you put down your weapon first. This is a terrifying weapon, to stare down its cold metal barrel. Intimidation is raked in from millions of nerves cowering in fear of being hit in your enemy's body.
Now onto the weapon.
I have been a fan of WWII weapons ever sense I saw Saving Private Ryan, I thought that the weapon was the coolest thing ever, and couldn't wait to get my hands on it.
(Of course, I live in a place that you couldn't dream of getting even your eyes on such a thing unless you really tick off the police).
This weapon looks so very realistic to the actual weapon which I got to see a demonstration of, and now that I have a look alike I can test I out with my friends whenever I want. So very realistic. Three Thumbs up on realism!
Accuracy is decent. You could find better in a UTG Sniper, but then again they are not automatic are they?
You could hit a can over and over and over again from a maximum of 80'
a basket ball from 92'
a garbage can from 110'
and a man from about 115'-120'.
Pain inflicted from a BB from this gun is at 110%. From 60' to 130', you can't tell the difference because it hurts that much.
Over all this gun is one of my favorite in my arsenal. Makes me feel like a real
old time WWII ranger in battle, or a Marine at the Grave of the Unknown Soldiers at Arlington.
Terrific. Many good memories with this. Recommend unconditionally.
Perfect in every aspect.

- Excellent Gun and Great New Color, June 09, 2007
The M14 is a great gun and UTG did a wonderful job constructing this one. The performance is unbelievable for the price. It is arguably better than the Marui version for half the cost. The new color will sell many more of these bad boys for UTG. Im buying one as soon as i get my next pay check and i already have one in Olive Drab. Hope This Helped

- Not Bad, if Your On a Budget..., June 10, 2007
The UTG M14 is what more experienced airsofters call an MPEG, or Mid Priced Electric Gun. If you don't have the money, or your not that serious about airsoft these guns are fine, but if you are serious I highly suggest saving up a little more and getting a Classic Army or Tokyo Marui, the two most reliable brand names in airsoft. This gun can definatly compete with TM's and CA's but the downside to it is it usually has pretty bad internals and will break faster than a TM or CA. Do not buy this gun if you are very serious about airsoft.

- Great gun but..., June 10, 2007
This is a great gun. It is as powerful as a stock classic army or ics AEG, even more so than a stock tokyo marui. The construction of the outer body is astounding- full metal. almost the equivalent of a classic army. I have one complaint here though. The stock and fore grip are made out of plastic- and no matter what they say about abs plastic, plastic is still palstic and it will never replace even the cheapest metal. My personal opinion is that this black m14 looks better. It looks more realistic to me. The accuracy is good, but not as phenomenal as most other claimers say it is. The longer barrel doesn't do shit. If you don't believe me, go to airsoftreports.com and they have an explanation there. It's on the forums. This gun is long to the point of clumsiness. It is not that heavy. 8 pounds is just a little over a 15 pound dumbell which most kids my age (13) can easily lift with one hand. With this gun, I can hit a soda can from 60 feet, guaranteed. A torso at 150 ft is no problem either but most AEGs have the same performance. The RPM is not that great but it is enough. One thing I love about this gun is the space capacity of the stock compartment. Personally, I would go with the utg ak74. I've had that gun from approximately the day it came out on shorty and it is still performing flawlessly. The 74 is more powerful, and in my opinion, looks better. But, I am satisfied with this gun and as always, take care of your gun.
IF you have any questions, contact me on AIM my sn is idonotlikeyou198 and i am typically on around 6-8
Thank you
Have fun, if you shoot someone, make sure it hurts them
