- A classy rifle, November 22, 2007

I actually got this as a Christmas present last year. About a month earlier than that, I had fallen in love with the real steel version of the rifle. Many people suspect the SL8 to be either fake or highly advanced when it is, in all actuality, a civilian model of the G36. And while it may look like a military sniper/special purpose rifle, it isn't. I believe it is legally purchasable in the U.S.

That aside, upon opening the package, I was amazed by the sight of this beast. It was huge. After some quick assembly and charging of the battery, I decided to test fire it.I was surprised to see that it was both accurate and powerful (because the only airsoft guns I've had prior were... junk). With the addition of a 3-9 zoom scope, the thing looked like something straight out of a science fiction movie, a quality that still strikes me odd, as the rifle isn't even built for law enforcement or military. The thumb-hole boxy stock allows for great stability and comfortability for the sacrifice of some added weight.

Speaking of which, the rifle isn't without flaw. The primary material is plastic (yet it is a nice and durable plastic, not the cheap stuff you find on some guns), the thing is impractical to wield in Close Quarters Battle, and, well, mine broke after a couple weeks.

I'm not sure how or why it broke. I assume I must have stripped the piston due to dry-firing it (I was new to AEGs) and I had also overcharged the battery. Either way, I think that I was at fault. I still expected more durability.

Because it is not without flaws, I must give it a 4 out of 5, but if I could, it would get a 4 and a half for the fun-factor and the intimidating nature of the rifle.

Pros:
Accurate
Powerful
Down-right cool
Reasonably priced

Cons:
A tad bulky
Mainly plastic

It is worth buying for this price.

Well, I do not own this rifle, my friend does. But using past knowledge with BE, my friend will write the rest of the review.......

This gun is a smooth performer, but as you all know, BE is not the best Middle grade aeg but this rifle is a better than most BE work.

Accuracy is O.K. but could be better.
Power as in f.p.s. is great for BE.
Feel is very very cool and good looking (sl8 is sooooo cool).

Final word is,...
If this is one of your first, then go ahead.
If not, try go for an echo 1, Jing Gong, or UTG

But this aint a bad gun (for mid grade).

i have to say this, i have seen and not shot, but since there is no appearance let me explain what it looks like!

Its a SL9 FYI because the SL8 has the carry handle like a G36k or G36 with the built in scope. It sorta looks cool and more on the long side. maybe a sniper if u wanna say that. its performance from the stats are ok, 300 FPS is good for $100 and 130 feet is also good! But the RPM is low and the batery should be bigger for its length, but the CA G36 doesnt have a much bigger one itself. Soo

for $100 is cool, just not the best, also, BE (Both Elephants) is a ok company, i trust them! If you want a sniper for $100 get the M324 by UTG and if u want a AEG, get the MP5 UTG from $109 (I have never used a UTG AEG so dont blame me if its not the best, but im gonna buy the warhawk soon!)

Anyway hope this helped.

I just got mine and was surprised to see how big it actually was. Then I picked it up and noticed that it is pretty heavy. I bought the SWAT sight with the red/green light and it makes it 100x more accurate and cooler looking too. The RoF is actually really good moving at around 12 shots per second with a FPS of about 300 or so with .2gs. The motor on this thing sounds mean too unlike the highpitched motors u hear on most AEGS. The extended barrel i do have but i really havent used because it makes it waaaay too big. I've heard that it doubles as a sniper (which i can see accuracy wise) but i still havent used it that way yet because I do own the Sharp Shooter. I switched the battery to the one Shorty offers and it does make a lot of difference. There are little mods you can make inside the butt of the gun which actually reveals a huge compartment for bigger batteries. I definitely recommend this gun. And for the price how can you go wrong?

this gun is awsome around 300 fps metal ger box yay lol its all round a good gun for beggienrs but for only like 30 $S more you get can get and echo1 which has all upgraded internals which is very good so u have a chocice

Well to start it off, the SL8 IS a real type of gun. It is one of the G36 variants.

I bought this gun about a week ago, and I was very happy. I opened the box to find a G36/AWM (sniper) looking gun. I already had some HP .2's in my house so I loaded it and took it outside. I took my sticky target and put it on the ground. I steped back around 120-100 ft away from the target and got into prone position (laying on the ground). I aimed with the sights for the target (its about the size of a head).

First 5 shots from 100 ft away: 5/5 shots hit the target, and they were all, if not on the bullseye.

5 shots from about 110 ft away: 5/5 again! This time they were much lower down.

5 shots from about 120 ft away: 4/5... They were all at the bottom of the target.

So all in all this is a great starters gun like me. It has a good range. To make this even better, (i bought these) get the Mac 11 surpressor, the UTG clamp Bi-Pod, and the UTG 4X32 scope and your set to go ^^. Also, you may want to buy a couple BE XM8 mags just incase.

Wow. I looks amazing, hefts well, doesn't drain your wallet(mostly).
I like it.
The only problem was that my gun came with problems...
BUT DONT LET THAT DETER YOU!!!!!
Get it. Its a good gun at $100.

You can use a scope on it whether you are a sniper or a mid range assault rifleman.

Tips: 1)Get a better battery (The 1200 mAh, it has a longer life but who cares that it takes 20 more minutes to cahrge)
2)Get an extra 45 round clip
3)This gun can jam, keep the ramrod handy!

(this gun is my personal favorite from a design viewpoint :) )

ive only seen a few other sites with this model, and its usually really expensive, for a mediocre gun.

one of my old friends had a different model of this gun... and it ruled.

For those of you who are interested, this gun is the civilian sport rifle version of the G3 series. it is in resident evil 4 as well.

let me start off by saying that although i own this gun, it is completely upgraded from the inside out so i am not familiar with the stock stats during an actual war. Anyway, when i saw this gun (another site) i knew, thats my next gun (my previous being an echo1 m4 with mods) the only problem was that everywhere was selling them for 300-400$ with the same stats as this one, so i kept looking being disapointed at everyones price. then i decided to check back with shorty to see if they had any new items...then i saw it, and under the lpeg section, instantly i got it without a doubt in my mind it was what i wanted, when i got it i shot a few shots off in my backyard it was pretty good, able to hit a can from 40-45 feet away (this was the only time using it stock), thats pretty good for a 100$ gun, but not good enough for me, i brought it down to an airsoftGI store near my house and got a g36 railing, (basicly what was already on there but shorter) a 4x scope, a low profile 20 rnd mag, and some internal upgrades (high torc motor, stage 4 spring, ect.) so it could go 450fps (by the way since this has a ver.3 metal gearbox i saved like 100-150$) and now this thing out shoots most guns. Thanks to shorty's awsome price i only spent around 300$ altogether to get this gun shooting pro status!

pros:
-AWSOME PRICE
-great style (my favorite)
-ver.3 metal gearbox
-stock stats are pretty good for most casual players
-very easy to mod
-parts are very common so you wont be looking everywhere to get some
-costs only like 150$ to get it shooting better than any CA or TM

cons:
-the paint is a little glossy, but you could just give it a custom paint job
-nope thats it

overall this gun kicks ass!

This gun is the perfect mid-range support weapon and also a good sniper. It is a little large so it is better to find a place to sit tight with it. The full metal barrel adds realistic weight to this metal gear box beast.
The Gun:
Really big
can accept an underslung RIS
Comes with great standard sights(just like the G36C)
Can mount a scope on it
Easy battery istallation in the stock
Hi-cap mag (can accept the STAR G36 mag with some minor adjustments)

Preformance:
O my god! This gun's fps is insane for $100
fps: Not too much, not too little
Accuracy: Pretty good for a mid-level AEG
Hop-up adjustment: Still not sure which way to turn the hop-up up or down
ROF: Wow! you want to keep it on semi
Also, you will want to buy white bb's for getting the hou-up right, but black later so that your target never sees your shots

Overall this is a great gun with good fps, accuracy, and fairly user-friednly. The reason i gave it a 4 is becasue the hop up is not very easy and it jams sometimes.
