2 out of 5- Good while it lasted, but only lasted for a week, May 01, 2005

Careful---it's a great looking gun, semi-impressive fire power and ok scare tactics...but it's always the inside that counts. The gears strip very easily so do not use the cheap bb's and if it jams, don't just keep firing...get out the cleaing rod, or take it apart. It was really fun while it lasted though. It's really solid feel and the low cost made it a must have for me.

CAUTION---AS WITH ALL CHEAP GUNS, PLASTIC GEARS STRIP EASILY. DO NOT USE CHEAP PROVIDED BB'S AND DO NOT FIRE IF GUN IS JAMMED. I HAVE HAD TO GUNS BITE THE DUST DUE TO THESE TWO FACTORS.

But if treated properly this gun very well could last a summer at the range, or maybe even a year.

Still...save your money is my advice...buy a good one and you won't be sorry!

4 out of 5- Beginer, May 25, 2005

Overall the rifle performs well for a low end aeg. About 1 out of every 3 shots will hit your aim point out to about 40 feet using .12 bbs. A lot of shots will shoot off to the left or right and sometimes angle up. Maximum distance is around 60 to 70 feet depending on wind and humidity. This is probably due to the setting on the fixed hop up. .20 bbs will decrease range from 40-50 feet due to the weight, and acurate shots down to 20 to 30 feet. The motor and cylinder are not real strong and the 4.8v battery does not supply the power a higher battery would produce.
I like the Navy trigger set up compared to the older A3 model. The selecter switch is easier to work and the pistol grip feels more comfortable. The plastic housing is pretty sturdy along with the aluminum rails on the pull out butt stock. The stock locks securly in place with little to no wobble. The only trouble I encountered was I had to return one due to a defective selector switch. Probably a bug since this is a ver.1 rifle.
This would make a good CQB weapon around the house and such, but not up against any high end aeg's. Over all a decent low end for the price. I enjoy using this one and with about 600 rounds through it now, I pretty much know how to adjust aim and such for better accuracy. The only real gripe is lack of spare mags for it. I like using the standard 20 round mag rather than the high cap. Just carry some extra speed loaders.

3 out of 5- Fairs Well But, April 23, 2007

Another OK gun to use but I suggest a different gun. The range and durability on this gun is crappy.

3 out of 5- ONLY cqb, April 17, 2006

I posted this on the airsplat amazon web review thing; if you don't want to read it, I put the stats on the bottom:

This gun is a good CQB/CQC weapon for your assault team, as it is compact and has a retractable stock. However, the stock will eventually cease to lock into place, creating aiming problems, even though this thing isn't that accurate anyway. It isn't good for suppressing fire because the BB's curve up at their maximum range AND all the way to your target, so if someone is using a reverse slope defence (or even if you are, for that matter) then this will curve over the person's head and you won't be able to aim the gun lower as it would greatly expose your body and you would get shot. Then, your assault team (for whom this gun should be used by) would not be able to flank the enemy position (or maneuver into any offensive position, for that matter) without being observed and fired upon by the enemy. In addition, the magazine takes a while to reload and could cost you the game if you run out because there are no spares available. If you have any other people on your team, then you're golden because they can cover you while you reload.
This MP5 is best suited for CQB because of the ROF, which is about 300 RPM, but can be 600 RPM on a full charge. Also, the range is 20-25 yards, but it isn't good for that distance because of the upward curve. The adjustable hopup is best set at the lowest setting with a .12 gram BB to minimize the curve.

Stats (all rated for a LPEG!!!):

Accuracy: 4/5 Can get the bullets inside 5 foot radius at max distance!

Range: 3/5 It varies from 20-25 yards, which is *GOOD* for a lpeg

Power: 3/5 You can go higher! I can shoot myself in the arm all day from POINT BLANK! You have to practically guess on whether it was the gun or something else when you're hit!

FPS (speed): 3.5/5 It's so slow! You can dodge them from 10 yards away! I think that it slows down to less than 20 fps at it max distance (NO KIDDING!!!)

Durability: 5/5 This thing is a beast! I've dropped it on rocks and slammed it on things (both accidentally) and it hasn't chipped or broken or anything! (PS the charging handle WILL break off, but it's annoying anyway)

Magazines: 4/5 Not the *best*, but they're good considering all things; you always have to wind the hi-cap.

Accesories: 4/5 The scope can be accurate it you line up the crosshairs with the top post, but the silencer is junk and everything else is good; during a game you can scew off the orange tip for better camoflage

ROF: 4/5 Good; 300 RPM (5 rps) on a normal charge, 600 RPM (10 rps) on a full charge

Anyway, this is a really good cqb weapon.

5 out of 5- ONLY 50 bucks, May 31, 2005

Ok this gun rocks. It hurts like a mofo and has many metal components like the retractable stock. The scope is electric and has a red dot. it weighs about 3-4 pounds giving it a sturdy feel. Ive had it for a month with no problems. GET IT NOW

4 out of 5- Okay Gun, May 24, 2005

This gun is okay for close combat. The gun has okay accuracy, but the fps is to low. The gun doesn't hurt if you get shot, not even a lil bit. Unless your shirt is tight, and you are a wuss. Over all this gun is allright if you are good at aiming up to hit people, and if you are good at close combat. I would request this for a beginer.

3 out of 5- an average gun, May 17, 2005

The MP5J shoots well, but there are some drawbacks. Be careful when you pull back the cocking handle. If it jams, and you try to force it forward, it breaks off. That happened to me. Also, the collapsible stock sometimes moves forward when you shoulder the weapon. Finally, there is no battery for the scope. Time to visit Radio Shack. On the other hand, it looks well (except, of course, the orange barrels) and my buddy is still running from the ambush I laid upon him. Caveat emptor (Let the buyer beware)
