- Definetly the best bang for your buck., December 22, 2005
I just received this gun a few days ago from Shorty's. I also own the Maruzen CA870 so I was pretty convinced that this was just another crap Cybergun-ish copy, and I just bought it for it's unique looks...boy did it give me a pleasant surprise. When I first held the box, I was a bit surprised at the weight...It sure didn't feel like a $40 gun. While it does not perform better, nor is it crafted as well as it's Maruzen counterpart, it is a great gun nonetheless. Just like Shorty's says, it is a very hefty weight and is very sturdy. As for it's performance, it shoots very fast (I made my friend bleed from about 20 feet away), and also very accurate (More accurate and more range than my Super 9 Sniper rifle). The pumping action is so smooth that you can repeatedly pump and shoot to achieve rapid fire, and you will not sacrifice too much accuracy. The six position LE stock is also perfect for people that are not very used to holding full stock shotguns or sniper rifles (Just act like it's a pump action M4...).
The only notable cons I have found with this gun are (A)It does not have any Iron sights, but it's not very important since a Spec Ops Reflex Sight, any type of low-powered scope or red dot scope, or even a lego super glued to the barrel can make an effective sight; not to mention, it's still very accurate without any aiming assistance. (B)The internals are plastic and therefore are extremely hard if not IMPOSSIBLE to upgrade (Not that you would need to, it already is pretty powerful for the price). (C)You're also going to want to buy some extra magazines if you plan on using this gun for skirmishes since you can only load ammo into the magazine using the included loading tool thing, and this can get a bit annoying when you do it during play, not to mention you might accidentally step on or break the loading tool and will have to buy another tool to replace it.
~Overview~
Pros:
Very hefty and sturdy
Powerful
High effective range
Operates very smoothly
Plenty of RIS rails for all your accessories
Very accurate
Adjustable hop-up
Adjustable stock
The Price!!
Cons:
Mostly plastic
Magazine can only load with the included loading tool
Plastic internals (No Upgrades T_T)
No Iron sights
The Maruzen is still better than this
Bottom Line: If you are looking for a primary weapon to take on AEGs in MilSim battles, this ain't it. If you're looking for a gun you can invest plenty of money into and turn it into the ultimate project gun, this still ain't your gun. BUT...if you want the best performing springer for plinking, or even backyard or indoor springer skirmishes, then this is an ubelievably good gun, at an unbelievably low price, and I recommend you buy it!
BTW: Extra magazines and some silicone lube would be noteworthy purchases along with this gun, and would definetly help it perform better, and for a longer time.

- okay copy, October 07, 2005
the series of utg ca870 shotguns are copies of the maruzen CQB types.
after noting that i will continue.
the accuracy, power, magazine cpacity, durability, finish, and overall performance is less than that of the original.
if you are looking for a good gun, go with this one, but if you're looking for something great, go with the maruzen.

- WOW!!!!!, March 05, 2006
This gun beats all others in this price range. This one is the best one out of all UTG's shot guns... It's mostly made out of plastic, but don't let that get you down. It is very durable. The red dot is alright, it gets the job done. The fps is amazing. It shoots very hard, abd if you lube it, it'll shoot hard. Use .2 with it. It'll leave a mark on your opponet. This gun compares to those 10 times it price. Stop reading and buy it...

- utg m87 sos shotgun, September 16, 2005
this shot gun looks amazing my friend has the m87 stockless and it rox. this has got to be amazing it has a stock and pistol grip. all the stock can do is add extra stability and accuracy when shouldered. the boost in stability and accuracy can only help a shotgun with adjustable hop up to get perfect accuracy. the only bad thing about the stock is that it is harder to move around with which is nice to have with a perfect gun.

- Why didn't I wait for this?, September 16, 2005
Now I'm angry at myself. I bought the UTG M87LA Spring Airsoft Shotgun Full Stock from shorty a month ago (LOVE THAT GUN) and always wished I had a pistol-like grip on it, with a stock. LOOK AT WHAT UTG MADE! Exactly what I wanted! Plus the stock folds like an M4 stock, which should be sick. Good grade money is coming in soon, time to start saving to buy this baby along with the UTG snipe and spring MP5 A4/A5.
