- GO UTG!, May 11, 2006
FINALLY AN AK WORTH THE MONEY! For all of you who don't know, UTG is a great company, so it can be expected without even reading the review that this is a great gun. They are the makers of the famous shotguns on here that I also reccomend if you cant afford this. Me and my friend got this the second we saw it on shorty, and got 2 day shipping just because we could hardley wait, but we arent rich enough for overnight. Needless to say, even with my high expectations of this gun, i was amazed. It is built like an absolute tank, and like it says here, weighs arround 7 pounds. UTG went away from the traditional look of an AK when they designed this, and although you cant really play iraqui, this will still scare the H%!! out of the person you unload it on. It is fairly loud for an automatic, which makes it hard to snipe very easily, but with 900 RPM and 280 FPS why are you hiding anyway? For long range fighting, the adjustable hop-up is useful, so you can jack it up all the way and at least scare away the person hiding almost 200 feet away. The hop up is easy to adjust, however its not the kind of thing you can do while running arround in a battle. This also has a ton of metal on it, which is of course why it weighs almost 7 pounds, so you can throw this aarround with now worry at all, its staying how it is. One thing I like about this that cheaper rifles dont have is the metal sling mount. My first rifle I got (no idea name or cost I was 8) was absolute junk and I remember getting mad when in the first few minutes of use, the plastic sling mount snapped as I was jumping over a log. No need to worry about that with this beast, It could easily outlive you. It does have places for rail mounts, but only if you want them. Personally I think putting more rails on it ruins the look, but if you have some good add ons, go ahead. The magazines are also nicer than a lot of other HI CAP mags ive used. Their interchangable with the Mauri mags, and have a lot less mis-feeds and slips than any other mag ive ever used.
Comparison to any other Ak's on this site - this dominates them all.
UTG Came up with a unique look, modeling after the guns the Spetznats Commandos use instead of the usual terrorist look.
ADD ONS - You don't really need much more with this. It comes with almost everything you would buy for it: a speed loader, sling etc. If you really want it, you could get the deluxe tactical flashlight for a more 'special ops' look, But personally I think its better without it. I put the reflex sight from my shotty on it to see how it was but I think that the regular sights are better for this. The Sight gets in the way, and doesnt do enough to make it worth the space it takes up. Deffinitly only use High grade BB's with this, its a nice gun, itll shoot that much better with them, and itll make the gears last even longer. I would get the 2 HI CAP spare mag pack, as their only $14 (lots cheaper than usual) and keep 2 mags filled with .2g's and the others with .25g's. The people I play with like to not say they were hit if you graze them, or they barely feel it, so use the .2's for sniping, and if you use .25's for close range, theres no way they can say you missed. Also deffinitly stock up on the airsoft lube, with 900 RPM it will put a lot less stress on the motor to have extra speed, and maybe even lube the BB's. Im not sure how much of a difference it makes but sometimes I will fill up a 2000 quickload can, and lube up all the BB's so you dont need to do internal work as often.
So to sum this novel up for people too lazy to read it all...
PROS
- Shoots hard
- shoots FAST
- Durable
- UTG
- extras!
- threatening look
- threatening sound
- hi cap mags
- amazing for the price
CONS
- not really anything except PRICE
I know its good FOR the price but its still $140. Me and my friend split it 70-70 but I think now hes saving up to buy the rest from me... So in closing, If you have a birthday coming up, or you have enough money, its amazing.
... dang that was one long review...

- AMAZING!!!!!!!!, May 21, 2006
I recently purchased the UTG AK-47 Commando AEG, and I have to say this gun is AMAZING! You can't beat the price, and out of my other AEG's (which were all more expensive) this one performs the best! I have the Electric Panther arms A-15, XM-177 Spring Rifle, UTG Navy Seal MP5 A4/A5, UTG AK-47 Warhawk (almost as good as the Commando, but has a slightly slower rate of fire), and a Mini MP5 A5 electric Airsoft gun.
My best friend currently has the Tokyo Marui Kalashnikov AK-47 AEG Softair Rifle and even HE was way impressed, and wanted to use it in our battle. (No Way!) This gun's less than half the price and is just as good as his if not better! Now, down to business. After doing a series of at home tests, Shorty proves once again, to be EXTREMELY ACCURATE on their testing. The only thing that was slightly wrong was the effective range of this gun, I calculated a little over 185ft. (every ft. counts when your in battle.) Where as Shorty claims 150-170 ft. effective range.
The Black finish on this gun is OUTSTANDING but what's really amazing is the ACCURACY this thing spat out 14-16 bb's in a little over 1 second!!! (INCREDIBLE) The other great thing about this gun is the price! You truley cannot find a better gun for under $180.00 This gun is definitley worth the money. My only complaint is the magazine and the stupid little orange cap with is slightly difficult to get off, but no big deal. The magazine however is a bit of a pain and sometimes you need to shake the gun a little "if" you're firing on auto. Semi-auto I had no Problems whatsoever. Great deal for the money, absolutley FLAWLESS. A must buy for all intermediate airsoft players.
Reccomended UpGrades:
I would definetly spend the few extra dollars and get the ultra high premium grade bb's. ( I noticed a huge improvment in the accuracy immediatly)
I would also reccomend the UTG 8.4v 3300 battery. It gave me a much longer running time and a noticable higher ROF (rate of fire)
PERFORMANCE IN BATTLE: Greatness!!!!!! This thing is AWESOME, I let my friend use it and he shot me from about 70-80 feet away, OUCH! I'm no wimp either, this gun by far has the hardest velocity out of my other guns in under a 100 ft. (I've had my fair share of getting hit.) I haven't had time to chronograph it myself, but im estimating around 285-295. can you say PAIN?
Overall: this gun is ABSOLUTLEY AMAZING, you can't beat the price or the looks. This thing is AWESOME... I just feel sorry for my friends parents who spent $300 on a Tokyo Mauri and mines probably better! not to mention it was $160 bucks less!
Buy It!

- two thumbs up, May 11, 2006
just got mine in today, and I am very impressed with its overall first impression. as you have hopefuly read, it comes with your basics for any new player. but what surprised me the most was its weight. i also own the ak47 warhawk and they are almost identical in weight. there is a considerable amount of metal parts which is giving this effect. the built in rail is handy for a vertical grip, laser, or light. the battery included fits nice in the stock with very little play. The overall size is about the same as my mp5k, so it is going to be great for CQB. when i first picked it out of the box i wiggled it a little to see if there were any creek in the assembly. to my surprise was there were none, unlike its bigger brother. i quickly threw on my vertical grip, put in the battery and went outside for a joy ride. my buddy has a chrono, so i put it into first and chucked off 20 shot recording the data. the average FPS after 20 shots was 287. now that i was excited to know that shortys under rated the fps, i had to see what auto was like. shortys wasnt kidding when they said the rate of fire was increased. my little spetz could compete with my buddies famas. if your not formiliar with the famas, it had TM's first motor in it, which isnt a high torch, but high rate motor. a motor made to mimic a support weapon, but lacking in its durablity and fps. after a couple skrimishes, i notices the accuracy was a little lacking. but i guess im just so used to classic army, that i forgot this is a low budget aeg made for cqb and i was playing outside shooting at 100 ft. the battery life is very substanctial, so i dont think a beginer would need an extra. as for the magazines, they are utg. the only problem i have with the mags is the fact that you really have to keep up with the mag and wind it alot. the overall feel of the weapon is nice and has a comfortable feel when sholdered. i would highly recomend a vertical grip, maybe some TM or CA hicaps and possibly a red dot.

- The Spatzz, May 11, 2006
Well, ill cut right to it, this gun looks amazing. I have looked up pictures of the real thing(which are hard to get) and found that its almost exactly alike except the fore grip. I was gonna buy the WarHawk but after seeing the real thing in person i decided not to since im a small guy a gun like that would be to hard to control. Then on the shelf right below the WarHawk was the Commando. Its lighter by a considerable amount but still amount yet still felt amazingly real. But my favorite adjustment was that its now shorter by a good 4 inchs. After firing off a few rounds i noticed one thingy, on semi auto its not sloppy like the WarHawk. It gets ever shot almost perfect except 1 which was because it ran outa battery. I gave it a five mainly because of the semi auto adjustment. For this gun i plan on getting a UTG weaver mount bi-pod which this gun is compatable with as u see(though i think its for a flashlight/laser). Also due to low funds i am buying a reflex spec op red dot sight which isnt that bad, i recomend it for most AEG's due to that fact that your not a sniper so why buyt 20-70 dollar scope but u definitly wana aim. The scopes 10 for all you who wana know and its above on recomended items.
Thats all for now

- essentially the same as the warhawk, May 10, 2006
this gun is internally the same as the warhawk, but it is incredibly back heavy, and it looks terrible. for an in depth review on the internals, see my review on the warhawk, and go with that gun, not this one.

- Pretty Cool, May 11, 2006
For all those who like the wooden features of a regular AK-47 then this isn't for you. I personally am not to drawn to the regular AK-47, but this thing is pretty cool. Has the performance of a UTG warhawk in a stealthy casing. I perticuarly like the bareel's look, and the mini RIS rail in front of the magazine. According to my friend this thing shoots pretty good, especially for its price. It is definatly a worthy opponant to other higher quility brand (ex. Tokyo Marui).

- EXCELLENT, May 10, 2006
This gun has all the same great stats as the Warhawk AK, but for 2 dollars less. This is a great gun, just as the warhawk AK is. UTG makes great guns.
