Carried by war heroes and gangsters alike, the Thompson has had a very long and colorful career which spanned over 60 years. The .45 cal submachine gun better known as the Tommy Gun first entered production in 1921 and quickly became the weapon of choice during the infamous gang wars of the prohibition period. It also saw heavy use during WWII and continued to see service well into the Vietnam War.

This variant of the Thompson is modeled after the Model 1928 which was the model seen being used by the 1920’s gangsters as they roared down Chicago’s streets while standing on the running boards of their Packard squad car. This model is not exactly historically accurate since the real Model 1928 had the bolt on the top of the receiver instead of on the side however it is still an awesome looking model. There is great attention to detail throughout from the heat sync on the barrel to the Cutts compensator on its muzzle. It even comes with a metal type L drum magazine which holds an impressive 450 rounds!

This Thompson has a very high metal content which includes the upper receiver and barrel as well as many other smaller parts such as fire selector and safety switch. Its stock, pistol grip and foregrip are constructed out of dense ABS plastic with a wood grain finish. One interesting feature is the unique design of the stocks butt plate which enables the shooter to rock the gun up from the ready position to the shouldered firing position in one fluid movement. Overall the gun is extremely well built with notably good balance and rock solid feel.

The gearbox is a full metal Version 6 with steel gears and a high performance spring which produces a velocity of 380+ fps at the muzzle using a .2g BB. Powered by an 8.4v battery the Thompson will achieve 650 rounds per minute which is only slightly off from the 700 rounds per minute of the real M1A1 submachine gun. If you were to upgrade to a 9.6v battery however its rate of fire would increase to over 750 rounds per minute.

Included with the Thompson is an 8.4v 1100mah mini type battery pack, 250mah trickle charger and cleaning rod. Charge time: 4.5 hours

While this gun comes set up for a mini type battery it can be modified to hold a large type battery pack which greatly improves its performance. You would need to remove the foam brick from the stock and knock out the plastic brace behind it so a large type battery would fit. Then use a Large Male to Small Female wire adapter to plug the battery into the gun.

WARNING: Do not attempt to move the magazines crank in the opposite direction of the arrow shown on the cranks handle. Doing so will break the magazine. Facing the crank it should be rotated to the left (counter clockwise).

5 out of 5- Wow this is cool

I am so excited that shorty is selling this. I was thinking about buying the m1a1, but i wanted the "mobster" version with the fore grip, which this one has. Also, it comes with the drum mag, which in my opinion makes the gun look a lot cooler (unless you are a huge WWII fan), and it also adds much more ammo to your disposal.

Although the ROF is a little slow at 650 rpm, the real steal Thompson only shot 700 rpm, so that is close enough for me. In a way, the fps makes up for this. Sure, you could go and upgrade it to shoot 400 fps, but if you just like to play skirmishes with your friends and don't care about playing in bigger wars, 360 fps is actually more than you even need. Currently, my main gun is the Echo 1 Mp5 A4, which shoots around 330 fps and i don't feel that i need more power for the type of battles I use it in.

    Pros:
    ITS AWESOME
"Mobster" version with the fore grip
Comes with the hi cap drum mag
    It shoots hard
    It looks cool
    You should buy it

    Cons:
None, unless you want it to shoot at a higher rate of fire than the actual gun

If you want a submachine gun, but you aren't ready to shell out the $230 for this, then I would highly recommend the Echo 1 Mp5 A4. Its a very reliable gun for a price that won't kill you. However, once i get some more cash, i will be buying this Thompson.

    thanks :)

5 out of 5- Really fun!

I jumped on this purchase right away, and got one of the first in the country. I was excited to get the Gangster model after seeing "Public Enemies".

This Thompson Model 1928 has the same body, buttstock, and pistol grip as the M1A1 model. The charging bolt handle should be on top on the 1928, but it has the same right side bolt as the later 1940's model. That was disappointing, but it probably was too difficult to modify. The barrel has correct heat ribbing. Compared to the M1A1, it has a different barrel tip, and the rear sight guard is different. All "wood" parts are plastic. If someone made them, I would probably buy custom wood pieces to replace the plastic. The front grip is really well done, and gives the 1928 that Gangster feel.

The drum magazine fits snugly, and is cool looking. You can add bbs while the magazine is attached thru a sliding window. The crank winds easily, and fully tightens quickly. The stick magazine from the M1A1 and drum magazine are interchangeable.

The battery is stored in the buttstock and seems just fine for recreational use and target shooting. On the real Thompsons, the buttstock is removable, making it a machine pistol. How cool is that?

The rate of fire is fine for me, I can fill up a sticky target really fast. The sound is great, and the bbs hit with a lot of power.

This Gangster model is a fine addition to a nostalgia collection.

4 out of 5- very nice

I own the M1A1 Military 1940 model Thompson and i love it just as much as my KWA KM4A1. It may not be the most accurate or have a high rate of fire but it takes its share of battle abuse. The new 1920s model is super cool but it performs exactly the same so if you have the military one, spending less money and buying conversion parts so you have two models and one gun is a good option.

    PROs
    20s model
    drum mag
    fair accuracy
    good Fps

    Cons
company cheaped out and used the same receiver as the M1 model, which means the cocking handle is not on the top like the real 20s Thompson
so if you like historical accuracy you can buy the 20s model receiver with the coking handle on the top

3 out of 5- nice replica

What this boils down to is this, this gun is a nice replica, but not a gun for usage. Let's face it, they don't make many spare parts for these things, they have low rpm, OK fps, and weigh 8 pounds. I can see this for a collector's item but nothing else.

5 out of 5- tested this out

My friend has this gun and it shoots nice. You feel like a mobster when holding it too. haha. The mag is amazing also! Just put a little lube in it and it feeds flawlessly! Also modify it for a large type battery and get a 9.6V to amp up the ROF.

    5 out of 5- coool

i think this weapon is very useful. i own both the M1A1 and the "typewriter". i think i go a little more trigger happy with the drum mag than with the stick mags. overall i think both weapons are very useful at close quarter wars.

5 out of 5- The Best

It is the best gun i have ever owned. the accuracy is incredible, and it is beautifully made. for me it is a little long; i wish it was just a little bit shorter. The rpm is a little slow but that's OK, though i normally keep it on semi anyway. The fps is incredible - most of my friends are scared of it. it shoots hard. I love it. if i had the money, i would by another one.
