The Barrett REC7, more commonly known as the M468, was designed to answer the need for a compact assault rifle which had more knockdown power than the existing M4 without sacrificing long range accuracy. It was created around the 6.8x43mm Remington SPC round, the first AR style rifle to ever be offered in this caliber. The 6.8mm had performance similar to the 5.56x45mm NATO round used in the M4 but because it was a heavier bullet it would hit its target with 1.5 times the kinetic energy making it 60% more lethal than the 5.56mm.
You wonít be shooting through car doors with this airsoft replica however being capable of hurtling a .2g BB downrange at 415 fps it certainly isnít lacking power. The REC7 is equipped with a metal Version 2 gearbox that has been decked out with steel gears, metal bushings, high performance spring, polycarbonate piston, ported polycarbonate piston head, polished cylinder and a E1 high torque motor. It features a 363mm inner barrel which has been mated to a mad bull hop up bucking giving it superior long range accuracy.
This is a fully licensed model of the REC7 so you will find its receiver bares the Barrett trademark and authentic markings. It utilizes a free floating barrel design with an integrated rail system to which you can attach a wide range of available accessories. While we were in the midst playing around with this rifle we found that the front section of the outer barrel unthreads right where the RIS ends revealing a 14mm CCW threaded tip. Attaching a mock silencers covers up the exposed inner barrel and gives a cool integral suppressor like appearance.
For those of you looking to mount a red dot sight or scope youíll be happy to know that both the front and rear sights can be folded down flat for a clear scope picture or can simply be removed. The REC7 features a special shortened full stock which is 2.5 inches shorter than the standard A2 stock. This allows for improved close quarters maneuverability as well as being a better fit if you are wearing body armor, a bulky LBV or OTV vest. The battery is housed inside of the stock which can accept a wide range of battery packs. You also get a quick disconnect sling swivel which can be connected to either the left or right hand side of rifles stock by simply pushing it into the open socket. Perfect for use with a one piece or wolf sling!
Metal parts include the barrel, RIS, magazine, magazine catch, trigger, selector switch, sling swivel, sling swivel socket, rear sling mount and butt plate.
