With their aggressive and edgy styling that challenges even their previously released MTC, ECHO 1 has definitely taken a radical departure from conventional design for their new SOB series. Looking like the brainchild of a Hollywood weapons master, these highly modified submachine guns are remarkably versatile and highly customizable with many aftermarket parts and accessories.
The Special Operations Branch model 1, SOB1 for short, is based on the Task Force Black series released by ECHO 1 some years ago. It has such features as a two piece metal body which can be taken down in seconds by simply pushing out a pin so you are able to easily remove the barrel for cleaning. Another cool feature is its mock bolt which actually moves back in the ejection port when the cocking lever is pulled to the rear. The internal hop-up lever is located inside of the ejection port so it is shielded from being moved accidentally by snagging on clothing. This model is also fitted with an integral rail interface system and flattop accessory rail which can accommodate practically any aftermarket accessory available to best fit your mission requirements. You may note that there are no iron sights on the gun so an aftermarket red dot or a set of flip up sights is advisable. Although, you are still able to use the groove down the center of the rail as a sight which actually works quite well.
This SOB1 is equipped with an M4 style buffer tube and six position collapsible crane stock which houses the guns battery so the gun is not cluttered up with an external battery box. You will also find that this model is set up perfectly for either the left or right handed shooter since the magazine release is centered just forward of the trigger guard as well as it having ambidextrous selector levers. Another cool thing about this gun is that its magazine, which replicates the 10mm stick magazines made in limited numbers for the US Law Enforcement market, is actually cross compatible with TM spec MP5 AEG series magazines. This allows the SOB1 to be used with countless brands of magazines already on the market.
On the firing line the SOB1 performed extremely well and was remarkably accurate for such a compact gun. The trigger response on this gun is extremely fast since ECHO 1 has fitted it with one of their powerful high torque motors which makes it possible to pull off double taps in rapid succession despite it having a really stiff spring. The spring they put in this model produces a solid 410 fps at the muzzle making the SOB1 ideal for field use. Its cyclic rate is a solid 780 rounds a minute with the included 8.4v but if you step up to a 9.6v you can see that number climb close to 900 rounds a minute.
