Tired of all those M4s and MP5s you see on the field? Want something different, but don’t want to skimp on quality? Look no further than the new AKS-74U from Cybergun. This gun has so much detail it surprised even us. With full metal construction and a real wood foregrip, this gun will surely please those who are very demanding when it comes to realism.

The real AKS-74U is a shortened version of the AKS-74, a rifle much like the AK-47 except using a 5.45x39mm cartridge over the 7.62x39mm round. “U” stands for “ukorochennyj” or, translated, “shortened”. Developed in the late 1970s, the AKS-74U has seen extensive use by tank and helicopter crews of the Soviet & Russian militaries as well as their special forces. Since its development the AKS-74U has found itself being used with its cousin AK-47 amidst smaller conflicts around the world by rebel organizations due primarily to its easy of use and unbeatable reliability.

This officially licensed replica of the infamous assault rifle is extremely well built and captures all the crud glory of its fire breathing counterpart. It features a metal folding skeleton stock which can be locked into either the open or closed position and feels quite solid against your shoulder. It also comes equipped with a side rail for attaching an AK-47 style mount. Unfortunately though due to the design of the hooded rear sight our UTG AK side rail mount is not compatible with this rifle.

With performance comparable to some of our full sized rifles, this compact AK can effectively engage targets out to 50 yards and even further when used with a heavier .25g BB. This is an amazing feat for gun a gun that is under two feet long with its stock folded. Because of its skeleton stock the AK type stick battery is housed internally along the top of the receiver. However, unlike other similar designed AK’s, this model has a cavernous battery compartment that can easily house up to a 12v stick battery. Please note however that the gearbox of this gun is only rated up to a 9.6v battery unless it is modified. The gearbox is a full metal V3 gearbox fitted with steel gears which coupled with a 9.6v battery will put out upwards of 860 rounds per minute at a very respectable 380 FPS with .20g BBs.

So, if you want an AK that’s compact and still shoots and feels great, this AKS-74U is for you!

Comes with: 8.4v 1100mah battery pack, 250 mah trickle charger and cleaning rod. Battery charge time: 4.4 hours

4 out of 5- Totally Awesome!!!!!!!!!!

Now I just found shorty and joined it!I've been playing it for years but I was looking for good deals and found the best web site!, now on to the gun.
You've already heard all about how the gun looks, let's go to performance. it shoots really good out of the box, everything works perfectly, the internals are some of the best of the -74 types but that's what you should expect if you spend close to $300 on your gun! I lubed it up even though it was fine but just to make sure, it has a good sound to it, little response time but it is noted, the rpm can be fixed with some little upgrades (upgrading your gun voids your warranty) but be careful doing it other people screw something and blame the gun but it's a pretty high tech gun so to speak. the motor on it is good but I usually expect more for the price range. It's got a good kick to it, it'll make you bleed so watch out.

    STATISTICS
    PROS
    Very realistic
    Nice internals
    FPS
    Durable
    Price
    Feel

    CONS
    RPM (Could be higher)
    Prices (for some)
Nothing else I could think of.

This is a good Gun over all,But G&G are the best, Except for systema. I noticed shorty has a gap in quality level they go from the top MPEG's (or even low end HPEG"S) to high High end aeg's in a bond because TM, CA and Star and JG even are at the low end of high end rifles but the best you can get is systema and G&G is the next best thing and they're really really nice Gun's and shorty has them!!!!!! But if you can't find a G&G AK-74 get this.

5 out of 5- This is no cheapo Gun

This is a really Really REALLY good gun. It has high fps and a good rate of fire. If you buy any high end gun you are going to get a good gun that is not a cheapo Echo 1, Don't buy from them. I got a defect that curves most of the time. I like more times it curves than it is on the money. Always buy from classic army or Ics because then you won't get a defect and it will last you at least a couple years before you need to upgrade it. GET IT.

5 out of 5- Great gun

This gun is great. It shoots fast, has easily adjusted sights, nice wood detail and almost everything is metal accept for the clip and one other small hinge sort of part. It really has a good sting to it when you get shot and shoots straighter than i thought it would. The only thing is that my gun did come with a battery (it was just hidden under a little cardboard piece), but i found that out after i ordered a new battery.

4 out of 5- Good Gun except.......

I myself don't have this gun, but two of my friends just got this of another site (1 new and 1 used). I have had the chance to shoot both guns and I was torn with pro's and con's. Friend A's gun, which was bought used, just broke the other day and he was forced to take it apart. He was pleasantly surprised to find the gears were not metal, but a cheaper form of it, and two of the gear teeth had broken off. I don't know if it was because it was used (although it was only 2 months old) or if gears truly weren't steel. Other than that it is a fantastic gun. With a great balance of power and rof, it is easily a gun that can mow people down.

    War story:
It was me and friend A in a covered tree house (he didn't have his ak) with a gas oozy, a triple-shot shot gun, a gas pistol, and an Mp5 against Friend B's AK 74u. There were 3 ways to reach the tree house --- down a main path that had moderate cover, a path on the left that led to a trench in the rear of the fort, or a path on the right that had only a couple of trees for cover. We had trained the oozie on the main path, but with no one manning it. I covered the right flank with the pistol and the shot gun but would switch to the center if needed and Friend A had the left with the mp5. Friend B choose to go left and snipe us from the trench, But friend A hit him running down the trail(We were playing 3 hit kill). Friend B then went up the main trail and hid behind some plywood. I kept him suppressed until the oozie ran out of gas. Friend B then moved up to within 15 feet of the tree house. Friend A had to guard the trap door while reloaded the oozie. Friend B then started laying down a volley with his .23 bb's. The bb's literally sliced the plywood covering the tree house hitting all of us and we lost the round(the wood was older and kind of rotted). Needless to say this gun has some power. Here are the pros and cons:

    Pros:
    fps
good quality(unless you get a bad gear)
    rof
weight(I'm putting that on both sides)
    sights(love it or hate it)

    Cons:
    weight
mag(don't hold many bb's per wind)

Get this gun , it is a best

    I'm out

    *Softairmaniac*
    sights(love it or hate it)
