I got this gun yesterday and there are many things which I would like to cover, so let's get started.
I picked up the box for this gun off of my front porch and was immediately dismayed. I heard sand and little pebbles within the packaging, as so many others who have had this gun had warned. I opened the box further to find the gun, bi-pod, sling, speed-loader, and magazine (in the gun). OPEN THIS GUN OUTSIDE AND LEAVE THAT BOX THERE!
*This sand is not the fault of SHORTY USA. The sand is the fault of those cheap ****** (manufacturer).
Cleaning and Troubleshooting:
From Spence's review of this weapon I knew that I should not fire the gun out of the box. There was simply too much grit and sand in the weapon. The reason for all of this sand is a hard, coagulated sand block in the stock of the gun. Seriously... it is in a torn bag... just a block of sand. In order to get this out one must remove the butt pad. Well... the butt pad is glued on. So i had to destroy my butt pad in order to get that massive sand chunk out, which was done by a thorough smashing on the ground. The stock is slightly scratched, but at least I got the sand out. I proceeded to take the stock and clean it under my sink with soap. This helped immensely.
I took the entire gun apart piece by piece and thoroughly cleaned it. For directions on how to take this gun apart look on youtube. CasualAirsoft has a good enough guide that should get you through the process. PLEASE!!! Do not fire this gun until you have cleaned it. It will just break after a while.
While you are in the gun you may as well do some mods to make it shoot a bit better.
First, get yourself some teflon tape. Wrap the cylinder head with this stuff.
Then get electrical tape or paper. Wrap it around the inner barrel to make barrel spacers. This will greatly improve you accuracy.
I do not own a chronograph; however, I trust what shorty says about the FPS. It is rather high. This accuracy is rather good as well. I am able to hit things that I want to hit. I haven't tested the range much.
***Do not get this gun if you aren't handy enough to take it apart and get it back together soundly. It is hard, but if you think you will screw up, don't bother.
*** This weapon ***NEEDS*** to be taken apart in order to be cleaned. Seriously... you have to clean it.
The gun is actually really quite good for the money after you have cleaned it and given it a bit more kick through some upgrades. Here are some simple pros and cons.
Pretty Accurate (Use above .28's)
Really cool looking.
Strong metal outer barrel.
I don't even want to think about what I had to go through to get this gun working how it should...
The box was so damn crappy.
The butt pad is gone, thankfully I had an extra that I slapped on there. If you don't have an extra butt pad, don't get this.
If you aren't handy, don't have extra butt pads, don't want to deal with some crappy *** in your box, or won't clean this gun, DON'T GET IT!!!!!!!!! Spend your money on a TSD M700 (look it up), a JG BAR-10, or a UTG m324. They are all easier to handle.
If you are handy, have extra stuff, and are willing to take care of this gun, it becomes better than anything else you can get for the price. Perform some simple mods and you have one accurate and powerful stock weapon.
While that may have been a lot to read, it is necessary. If anyone gets this gun without looking at what I have written here, they have made a mistake. The information here is what I would have wanted to see before I got this gun. However, I do not regret my purchase.
Thank you shorty for the quick shipping, and thank you those who have read this far. Please rate this review helpful, I think it is quite.
