- Good Upgrade
I've installed this barrel in my TM m733, and covered the excess with a silencer. (The barrel is longer than the stock barrell of the m733) It's been to one skirmish so far and I've run about 4,000 rounds through it.
First of all, the barrel is VERY easy to install, at least in a m4/m16 variant. Getting the stock barrel out of the hopup unit, then replacing it with the new one is a relatively simple task, and putting the gun back together afterward is even easier. If you are putting this in a non-marui gun, it would be a good idea to get an aftermarket hop bucking at the same time, wich will increase both your accuracy and range.
The barrel is made of aluminum, and is much lighter than the stock brass barrel of an AEG. It is also black, so a metallic inner barrel isn't visible if you look into the barrel of the gun (be very careful if you do this).
Before the installation of this barrel, my gun chronoed at roughly 297-298 fps. Afterward it chronoed at roughly 303-306 fps. Don't buy this in order to increase the power of your gun. You will be sorely dissappointed. If that's what you're after, you need a more powerful spring in addition to various other things to increase the longevity of a gearbox running a hotter spring than it was designed for.
During skirmishing with this barrel, I didn't notice a huge increase in either accuracy or range. However, I was able to reach out and 'touch' targets at longer ranges than I wouldn't normally have been able to with the stock barrel. There were several occasions that I was glad that I had this barrel installed. In one scenario, I was able to keep a sniper in a tower pinned at about 170 feet while a squad moved to flank the castle. It also virtually eliminated stray bb's and made for a tighter stream of plastic death. Performance definately increased, although it will NOT turn your UTG into "OMG 1337 sN1p3r!!!"
If you have a UTG, don't bother with buying this. It will NOT make your gun as good as better brands. Take the money and save it to buy a Tokyo Marui, Classic Army, ICS, or any one of the higher quality companies' products. If you are using a UTG, you will be outgunned by better quality weapons. If you try to upgrade said UTG, it will break, and you've just wasted a lot of money.
If you are using a high-end AEG, this is a great thing to get for your gun. It won't make your gun into an uber-powerfull monster, but it will give you the edge you've been looking for at longer ranges. Go for it!
