5 out of 5- M27IAR Feast on the fear of your adversaries

To begin with, I have had my share of high end rifles. My most recent main airsoft guns have been a Polarstarred Noveske, and before that, a Systema PTW Super Max. I know good guns. My chief complaint with most airsoft rifles has always been that to me, they just feel, well... cheap.

Enter the VFC made Elite Force M27IAR.

Initial impressions are very positive, with the packaging being very good. The case is not quite a Pelican mind you, but it's as good as anything you'd buy in the sporting goods section or better. It does look pretty darned cool. I wouldn't use it for transport, as it only just fits the gun and can't fit a lot of other stuff that we all like to jam into our cases. Opening the case reveals a beauty of a gun. From a foot away, I would be unable to distinguish this from something that ejects spent brass.

Once I picked up the gun, I was blown away by the weight and handling. Now THIS is a rifle! It is solid, like you expect the real deal to be. The fit and finish is top notch. This reminds me of the way a rifle feels, and I would be comfortable pressing it into service at any national OP... in fact I will do so from here on out!

The real beauty of this rifle though is that the M27 is a machine gun. The use of the real rifle is to replace the M249. That means that when you take this thing top a national OP, you can be the SAW gunner, and still use your rifle indoors. Awesome.

Shooting the M27 is a dream. Accurate as a laser, and intimidating, this has become my new one gun. Normally when I go with the team to ops, I am as often as not, the SAW gunner. I normally run the M240B. Mind you, I don't mind, and at 6'0" and 220 I can handle it, but to be able to do the same position with something half the weight, a foot and a half shorter and I can use it in buildings? Get out of here! I am in love.

After some testing, it was time for a full tear-down. I had this gun down to nuts and bolts. In full disclosure, I'll never run a stock gun, so I immediately installed a pro-win and a tight bore. Note that the barrel is a very odd 420mm size. Don't believe the VFC is wrong! They mentioned a 360mm barrel. It is not! I swapped the stock gearbox for a Polarstar, and and added my optics. The sound by itself is intimidating, but the end result out at 200 feet is even more so. Don't get me wrong; I would have been very comfortable running the gun stock, but I just don't do that. Besides...I like the taste of Ramen noodles... :(

My old Systema had a name; Suzy. I gave her a name because it was like that. I loved that gun. I had her pimped out with all kinds of real-steel love. I spent well over 3K on that gun to make her the way I wanted. Unfortunately, she got old, and became parts and maintenance hungry, and I spent used-car-money on her just to keep her in the field. I had to let her go. I literally couldn't afford to keep her. After that, I could never bring myself to name another gun.

My new rock and roll stick's name is Shelby. She is an M27IAR. She's sexy and tough, and built like a brick s#!t house. You may see her at a John Lu op, or at one of the Major's games. You will definitely run into her if you pop out to SOG field. One thing:

You had better be wearing the same colors as her owner.
