This modern looking submachine gun is part of the new full metal GSG-522 series from Cybergun. These highly detailed guns replicate the newest variant of the .22cal SMG which has a more ergonomic design and improved features. All of these models are officially licensed by GSG of Germany and bare authentic trademarks stamped into their receivers giving them a highly realistic appearance.

There are many things about the 522 which have been updated from the preceding GSG-5 to include a completely new streamlined polymer lower receiver with stipple textured grip. The upper receiver has been fitted with low profile sights and it now has an integral rail so you no longer need a special claw mount in order to attach an optic. These airsoft replicas have been cloned after the more modern two piece body so the upper receiver can be separated from the lower receiver by simply pushing out a series of pins which makes maintenance a much easier task. They are also compatible with TM Spec MP5 magazines so there are no issues finding spare magazines for these models.

The stubby GSG-522 PK is the smallest of the 522 series and just by taking one look you can tell it was built with close quarter mayhem in mind. With no stock and a chopped down barrel the PK is basically a pistol with a massive amount of firepower. It is extremely maneuverable and compact enough that you can actually fire it one handed if the situation calls for it.

The PK has the same Version 3 gearbox as its bigger brother with the same steel gears, steel bushings and steel core spring guide although it has been configured with a slightly lighter spring. This keeps the muzzle velocity to a CQB friendly 320 fps and allows the gun to operate at a much higher cyclic rate. When powered by the included 9.6v battery pack, the PK will rip out 16 rounds in less than one second! Now, one might concluded that its short barrel would limit the PK to close quarter, room to room combat and it would have little to no affect at longer distances. Wrong! This gun is surprisingly accurate at distance and is capable of placing a painfully tight shot group on targets out to 50 yards away. The hop-up on this model is a bit aggressive so lighter weight BBs do tend to climb a bit at longer ranges so we would suggest using rounds in the .25g to .28g range if you are going for distance. When used with Elite Force .28g BIO rounds we were putting bursts into a 12 inch plate at 150 feet so the PK is definitely not just for close quarters.

Comes with: 9.6v 1200mah battery pack, 250mah trickle charger and cleaning rod. Battery charge time: 4.8 hours

Image 6: Shown with but not included, ECHO 1 Low Profile Vertical Foregrip and ECHO 1 E90 Flash Hider.

5 out of 5- Good things come in small packages

Having previously owned a Cybergun (ICS) GSG5 and then selling it and immediately regretting it, I decided to buy the GSG 522 PK. All the things I loved about the original GSG5 are back in this tight little package.

    All metal? YEP
    Built like a tank? YEP
    Good ROF? YEP
    Accuracy? YEP
Compact and highly engaging in multiple play scenarios? YEP

I am actually amazed at the accuracy of this AEG given it has what I believe is about a 5" barrel. My team mates fear it and when I added a suppressor it actually gives this gun a very distinct, muffled firing report.

I was thinking about adding a slightly longer barrel but to be honest, I don't want to mess with what I believe is a winning combination of barrel size to compression. Hey, if the gun ain't broke, don't fix it!

Get this gun. You won't be disappointed. You know who will be disappointed? The people you play against.

5 out of 5- Just right out of the box!

I was looking for an indoor gun so I would not need to swap springs on one of my other AEG's. This gun was everything I was looking for and more.

My chrono had it at 340 fps and it seemed faster. Thought about modifying the barrel for accuracy, but it was already so good, (like the previous reviewer said) I was afraid to change anything. Was still worried if it would qualify with a 330 fps limit.

At the arena the technician chrono'd it at 320fps. He said "when I first shot it , it hit so hard I thought it would never pass, but it came up at exactly 320 fps." In action it outperformed the user. Accurate close and at distance. Nailing people at 40-50 feet through 12 inch holes with the reflex site I added. It was noticed and several of the referees asked where I got it and who made it.

It satisfied my desires perfectly, and the range outside exceeded expectations. It would come in handy in outdoor games where higher fps guns are limited to longer shots and is compact enough to replace a pistol without the limitations.
