Although the M28 is only the second bolt action rifle produced under the ECHO 1 name, the rifle leaves the distinct impression that someone at ECHO 1 has a passion for sniper rifles. A perfect fusion of beauty and bronze, this finely crafted bolt action rifle not only has some killer looks but it has the power to back them up in spades.

Weighing in at 7.5 lbs, before adding accessories, the rifle is extremely beefy and feels rock solid. Once you add optics and a bi-pod the rifle exceeds 10 lbs putting it very close to the weight of the real rifle. Overall the M28 is extremely well made with several key features.

  • Metal receiver with weaver mounting deck.
  • Right handed metal bolt handle.
  • Fluted metal outer barrel with interchangeable muzzle caps (standard and 14mm CCW threaded caps included).
  • Solid, high density polymer stock is ergonomically contoured with widened forend and grip making it equally comfortable for left or right handed shooters.
  • Functional mock magazine floor plate and true adjustable buttstock with rubber butt pad.
  • Metal rear sling swivel and dual front sling swivel studs.

When we turned it loose on the firing line we found its performance pushed the limit of most fields by clocking in at a sinister 530 fps at the muzzle and consistently fired within a small +/- 2 fps variable using KSC .2g BBs. Surprisingly even with this kind of power the cocking effort is low and the bolt cycles smoothly. When we took a peek inside to see what made it work, we discovered the M28 has an interesting mix of components.

  • 517mm, VSR cut, brass inner barrel.
  • 3 barrel spacers with inner and outer o-rings which aid in support and vibration damping.
  • VSR compatible, reinforced metal trigger box with 45 degree sear.
  • Adjustable trigger pull distance and weight.
  • Lightweight piston with rubber bumper.
  • M150 equivalent spring.

With field ready performance right out of the box and the ability for further modification if desired, the M28 is a perfect fit for the the recruit or veteran sniper alike.

If you are getting one of your first Sniper Rifles please take a moment and read the following Hints and Tips for Sniper Rifles.

Comes with: spare magazine, bi-pod, and speed loader.

Shown with but not included: UTG TACTEDGE 4X40 Mil-Dot Scope, JBG 9.5 inch Mock Suppressor.

PLEASE NOTE: The M28 comes with the barrel group and stock separated which need to be assembled. Assembly is accomplished by seating the barrel group into the stock and installing 3 screws. Start by installing the longest screw at the rear, followed by the medium in the middle and the shortest (the sling swivel stud) at the front.

5 out of 5- sexiest spring sniper

OK first off let me tell you that this is a complete monster. Even though to have a good gun, it's not about fps but it's nice to have on this gun. This gun is very accurate and nice range. But the fps is just outstanding. I'd recommend using .30 to.43 only because this gun can handle it. And the looks are just amazing. The feel is just outstanding and it feels like you're in the battlefield with a 20 lb. dumbbell in your arms but i don't mind. Anyway great gun, great realism, great performance.

    5 out of 5- Echo 1 m28

Let me start out by saying that I have been sniping in airsoft for a couple years now. Two years ago I bought the Utg Mk96 Shadow Ops sniper rifle off of this site and wanted something new so i purchased this m28. Therefore this review is meant for those who are debating between purchasing either of them.

Having used my MK96 for a long time, I noticed several differences between the two guns.

-Using .40g bbs, I was impressed with both guns, however I found a bit more consistency with my shots while using the M28, most likely due to the barrel spacers.
-The biggest problem I always had with sniping was shooting a person from so far away that they didn't really notice due to the drop in fps over time. Because of that issue, I bought the m28 for the higher velocity. I can guarantee you that your target will notice when they get hit by the m28, it makes a nice satisfying "thwack" too.
-For those interested in stealth, the mk96 is somewhat quieter than the m28.

-Both guns are very solid, however the m28 weighs more than the mk96 by a few pounds. In my opinion the body m28 is much more solid, but the barrel group of the mk96 seems to be better designed. NOTE: Cocking the m28 is much harder than the mk96 due to the stronger spring. My 13 year old brother needs two hands to do it. I had blisters on my thumb after using it the first day.
-The clips are very similar on both guns, however I hate the m28's since they aren't nearly as well built as the mk96 and they tend to stick sometimes.
-The hop up on the m28 is much easier to use then the mk96.

Bipod: Both guns come with bipods, I prefer the mk96's since it has two extra weaver rails and is much easier to take on or off. The m28's looks cooler, but is a dumb design in my opinion. Look it up if you're curious.

    Pros over their opponent:

    -easier hop up

    -bipod and clips are better
    -ease of use

5 out of 5- Reach, Touch and Accuracy

I am not a "spring chicken" to MilSim...Prior military, served in interesting capacities and a current LEO background. In my 40's with two teen age boys, I needed a something to do the the work. This is the tool. Pick up a 3x9 scope, ghillie and watch for the tear in their eye. Fabulous rifle! Thanks Echo and Shorty.

2 out of 5- Durability, upgrade list for MK96,BB weight scale to FPS list

I'm an experienced sniper...I started with the UTG M324 and went to the MK96, then to this. Okay the UTG guns I had each lasted 2 1/6 years shooting about 200-300 shots through them each month while airsofting. I saw this and thought because of the power and great reviews it HAD to be great. Not so fast-I never checked up on internals...this gun's got plastic pieces surrounding its MASSIVE 520FPS spring, which broke right after the warranty is up on the gun-and ya, sure you can spend 40$ getting new parts...every three months. This seemed like they put those sh!tty internals in there so you gotta buy the pieces from them-and it has sucked up the more reliable guns markets extremely well. So props to you ECHO-got on my naughty list. I asked my buddies(some of who have echo products and said their guns break a lot but you get replacements that are better-but for this M28 NO ONE makes the internals but echo and echo made them like toothpicks. So if you want a gun that's for display or you're only going to shoot 900 total shots through it then go ahead and get this ^^
So since I was now looking for a gun that needed rock-solid durability and massive performance I turned to my drawing board-picked the UTG MK96 OD as the best stock sniper and replaced a few things...

** Get these first if you're low on cash
** Parts will make your MK96 go 550 FPS w/.2g
Okay, so I now have a gun that hits guys at 350 feet out and still hurts like a b!tch because I use .43 Madbull BBs
BB weight is an art that needs to scale to your gun's FPS (took me awhile to learn this through the years so here's a cheat sheet)
    350-.28 , .29
    400-.29 , .36
    450-.36 , .40
    500-.40 , .43
Last game I had a guy get so pissed he put "the finger" in the air and did a 360 so I would see it =D
Okay guys that's my sniping review plus what I did different.

3 out of 5- Echo 1 M28 Spring Airsoft Sniper

I want to start out by saying that this gun is a very decent gun overall. But for whatever reason, mine failed to work properly. I thought that this was an excellent gun and that i would do some serious pwnage on the field but somethings don't always tend to go your way.

i got this gun approximately 2 months ago and i gotta say i was in awe. this here was a gun like no other. it would cause havick on the battlefield. For the brief periods where it would work as it should, i was impressed. so let's just get right to it!

this gun is a full metal constructed monster that can put a .2g bb down range at a sizzling 525 fps and has an effective range at well over 200 ft. not many sniper riles can do that. the mag, (which is kinda a pain to work with) holds 18 bbs and the barrel has an adjustable hop up system that you can use to your liking. when i assembled it (which was not too difficult, accept for attaching the bi-pod which was excruciating) i got out and tested it. with the few that worked i got some very promising results. i would recommend getting this gun to any hard-core sniper. just hope you don't have as bad luck as i did!

    Pros: FPS (525 is insane!)
    Full metal construction
    Adjustable hop-up
    spare mag included

Cons: Bi-pod (hard to get on)
    mags (are of poor quality)
loading (this thing is very difficult to cock and is nearly impossible to cock while prone)
    My bad luck!

5 out of 5- Best sniper EVER!

I got this about a year ago. I did target shooting for a good while and got .43 gram bb's for better accuracy. Yes the gun shoot like 250 with .43 but when u hit someone the actually jump up in the air because it hurt so bad. Little to their knowledge I was 75yds away from them in a bush. Sooooooo accurate and wouldn't trade the gun for any sniper even a gas sniper!!
    Hope you get the gun,

5 out of 5- The only investment.

Firstly, I would like to make it a point that my only previous spring sniper rifle was the super 9 V2.5 rifle. I bought this rifle simply because that every customer who purchased it gave it a 5 star review, so I wanted to see what all of the fuzz was about.

The first thing that I noticed when comparing the two rifles after a quick assembly of this rifle was the weight difference. This rifle felt like an elephant gun in comparison to the super 9 rifle. It says it's about 7.5 pounds without the bi-pod, although in combat it actually feels like it's an extension of your body, rather then trying to carry an awkwardly shaped dumbell into the battlefield.

Which was something that I was very impressed with. The feel of the synthetic stock and the fact that the grip contours to your hand along with the adjustable stock makes the rifle really ergonomic and really well balanced. Some rifles have their weights mainly in the front or back, but with this rifle it's perfectly in the center, a little to the back which has always been preferable to my shooting style.

Although there was something that I didn't find so good, which was the bi-pod that came with the gun. The bi-pod essentially is screwed to the gun that has a free-weight system that allows bending to your needs. Seemed like a good idea, so I installed it to my rifle. A few minutes after installing the complicated system to the gun, the bi-pod supports broke off, rendering the bi-pod useless. Upon further examination I found that the bi-pod was really only supported by a few short metal sticks from the actual bi-pod to the plate that was mounted to my gun, then I asked myself "If it can't support it's own weight, how do the makers expect it to be useful in battle?" Which is a question I still continue to ask myself.

Although it did come with a speed loader and an extra mag, and a cleaning rod for the barrel.

I attached my scope from my super 9 system to the rifle, which was a breeze because this rifle has an RIS system on the top of it, making it really versatile for any sort of scope or mount. After some shots of dialing it in, I found that the patterns with .2's were very consistent, almost never breaking out of the same area within centimeters, making it really easy to dial in to the center of my scope.

I also love how there is adjustable hop-up, rather than fixed hop up compared to my super 9 sniper.

Sure the speed is ridiculously fast, but something that I found to be really impressive about the gun was the sound. Normally in games, i'd be spotted easily because my super 9 would make a lot of noise upon firing, and even cocking. But with this gun, the action is so smooth on it, it feels like I'm driving the bolt through melted butter and having it land on pillows. The noise it makes when it fires is a very satisfying "Pss". Almost silent, but audible depending on the distance.

This gun is just consistently accurate with every BB that I cycle through it. Every BB never goes left or right, it's always dead center before wind. It's robust and sturdy, with a closed port so dirt and other stuff can't get into the gun, it's fast so you can actually 'snipe' with it.

This is the only sniper rifle that is on the market. Very satisfied with echo 1's competence.

On a side note, I noticed that most of the gun's parts resemble that of the remington 700 model.

4 out of 5- pull amazing shots

This rifle is pretty awesome. I use .23g nbs and I get pretty amazing accuracy. 465 to 475 fps to make even the people with a couple layers on know that they have been hit. I highly recommend this sniper rifle; it's good for money.

I only have one bad thing to say about this rifle and that is the length. it is really hard to maneuver through urban areas, around corners, or slung when using a side arm.

    5 out of 5- WOW

I have had this rifle for some time now and really put this thing through the ringer
M28 gets 5 out of 5 short range, long range, even longer range, no matter where your target is it hits . 200ft 525 FPS... i feel this echo 1 M28 is damn near close to a perfect sniper weapon.
earlier raters call it "sinister" a real "monster" well.... it is if it had teeth it would bite HARD
use heavier bb's this rifle can handle it and still remain dead accurate
Once again ECHO 1 does not let you down
I think it is a truly excellent sniper, better then anything i have fired to date [stock]...
